Sonic Unleashed

Introduction

Sonic Unleashed is a 2D action-platformer where you take control Sonic in his Hedgehog and Werehog form. Day stages, where Sonic the Hedgehog is playable, focus on high-speed action. Conversely, Night stages feature Sonic's Werehog form and focus on slower-paced platforming and combat.

Sonic Unleashed has received compatibility with multiple J2ME devices between June 2009 and 2012.

Short versions

The short versions only have 7 levels (5 Hedgehog stages and 2 Werehog stages) and only one boss battle at the end of the last level. Sonic's boost doesn't act as an attack, and the Spin Dash can be performed by holding down the down key or [8] and then pressing the center key or [5].

Medium versions

The medium versions only have 8 levels and 3 zones (Chun-Nan, Apotos and Spagonia). In those versions, Sonic the Hedgehog can perform a boost and a Spin Dash. In his Werehog form, he can hang on certain obstacles and perform different attacks. You can earn Chaos Emeralds by continuing through the story.

Long versions

The long versions are similar to the medium versions, but they have additional content. These versions feature 11 levels and 4 zones (Chun-Nan, Apotos, Spagonia and Mazuri).

Additionally, some versions may feature towers with 3D graphics.

Android versions

An Android port has also been released. There are 2 versions of the Android port (v1.1.7 and v3.1.2). However, due to the game graphics being designed for low resolutions screens, the game doesn't take the whole screen height and width.

The Android port was created using a special tool to convert J2ME games into Android, like other J2ME games made by Gameloft.
