App history

The Android port of Sonic Advance is a remaster of the Game Boy Advance game Sonic Advance.

This port that was only released in Japan and Chinese Mainland. (Chinese version released on the eGame platform) It was originally published as a free Android application from the Android Marketplace (now known as Google Play Store) in November 2011, though it later became available through the Puyo Puyo! Sega subscription service in December 2011.

In 2013, the Android port of Sonic Advance has gotten re-released in the Google Play Store. Both the Chinese version and the 2013 version of the game only let you play the first stage as Sonic. In those versions, the game required payment to unlock subsequent content.

Gameplay controls

Use the circle pad left or right to move the character, down to crouch, and up to look up. The A button is used to jump or perform an ability that each character has, and the B button to perform an attack.

In the Special Stages, use the circle pad to move the character around. Hold down the A button to accelerate and press the B button to perform a trick move.
When the GYROSCOPE control type is selected, tilt your device to move the character around. Touch the right side of the screen to accelerate and the left side of the screen to perform a trick move.

Game controller (Mobirev mod only)

In the Mobirev mod, you can use a game controller to play the game. This is also useful to play the game on the Android TV.

Here are the list of controls:

Left stick/D-pad: Circle pad

A button: A button

B and X buttons: B button

Bumpers: Air Dash (Sonic only) / Options shortcuts

Back button: Back

Home button: Interrupt / Game Pause

You can also use the game controller to select, cancel or scroll during certain menus.

The TIPS screen during loading screens is also useful to learn more about the game. In the Mobirev mod, make sure that the TIPS SCREEN (LOADING) option is turned ON.
